Frequently asked questions about grant applications
Yes. The entire application can be completed in English, Finnish, or both. The travel grant application attachments can also be in other languages if necessary (e.g., the congress presentation’s abstract in the language used in the congress).
Yes, both funds will be taken into account.
You can still submit your application since you can supplement the application with attachments after the deadline. An abstract acceptance letter can be submitted even as late as when requesting payment.
You can see the total grant amounts awarded last year from the previous year’s grant news published on our website and use this as a guideline for your application. Please note that research grants can only be applied for a period of a maximum of one year.
Yes, you can apply for both.
The full length of the research plan is five pages. The list of references does not have to be exhaustive: you can mention, for example, 5–10 key sources. A separate cover page is not required.
The grant must be used within one year of receiving it. Usually, it is sufficient to start using the grant by the end of May of the year following the award decision. In special cases, it is possible to get an extension of the start date.
In most cases, only one grant (funding) can be used for the same purpose, i.e. you cannot receive more than one grant for the same work. This does not apply to part funding; for example, it is possible to use several sources of funding for the same trip until all the costs are covered.
